Flagler earned his wealth with Standard Oil and decided Florida was a place in which to invest his money. He built a railway down the coast and is credited with places like Palm Beach and Miami being on the map today. His home was a wedding present to his wife and is an example of Gilded Age Society.

After the tour, Suzie and I had “tea” in the Pavilion Cafe. With a view of Lake Worth (the Intercoastal) and downtown West Palm Beach, this lunch was an enjoyable experience with historical ties to the Gilded Age.
