When Nepotism Goes Wrong

by Frank Gantz on December 23, 2008

The Detroit Lions are 0-15 and the head coach is getting upset at a reporter. Rod Marinelli is the head coach. His defensive coordinator is his son-in-law. So a reporter asked the head coach if he wished that his daughter had married a better defensive coordinator.

I think it was a pretty good question. Marinelli’s response? He accused the reporter of attacking his daughter. Hey coach, I believe he is attacking your assistant coach, you and the entire stinking organization.

This is the coaching staff that had a member last year that went Donald Duck through a fast food drive through. That means that like Donald Duck, he wasn’t wearing any pants. I think the anger at the reporter might be a little misplaced.
