With the headlines of the past few weeks, the new administration should be answering a few questions. Gov. Bill Richardson withdrew from a cabinet level position due to ethics charges. The new Treasury Secretary, Tim Geithner has tax issues even though he will oversee the IRS. Tom Dashcle withdrew from consideration for a cabinet post due to tax issues. Another appointee withdrew from running the White House professionally over yet more tax issues. My attempt is not to wrangle over the details of these charges, but simply to ask these questions:
- Is this “Change we can Believe in?”
- Should we have a simpler tax code if these guys can’t get it right?
- What has the IRS been up to if this many people are not paying their taxes?
- Would democrats be less likely to tax Americans, if they simply paid what they owed?
- What is the definition of hypocrisy?
Just asking.
